Simonida started her career as a professional Argentine tango teacher, performer and choreographer in San Francisco. She has repeatedly spent prolonged periods of time intensely studying tango in Buenos Aires. Exploring a variety of styles with notable teachers like Carlos Gavito, Gustavo Naveira, Demian Garcia and Carolina Bonaventura, Guillermina Quiroga, Ezequiel Paludi, and the masters of the Villa Urquiza style, Jorge Dispari and Maria del Carmen, she has developed her unique 'signature'. A teacher of highest demand in the Boston area, she has also been frequently invited to teach workshops and to perform in other tango communities in the US. In addition to offering regular group tango classes in the wider Boston area, she is a most sought-after tango teacher for private lessons and choreographies for special occasions. Previous training in ballet. In her teaching and performing Simonida emphasizes delicacies of the feet placement, adornments, elegance, long lines, sensuality, and dramatic expression through contrast between dynamic moves and pauses. Currently she also teaches tango classes of different levels for the Department of Physical Education at MIT. Every 4th Friday of the month she hosts and DJs the milonga Vida Mia in Arlington. Holds a Doctorate in Law from Munich, Germany, and a Master of the Science of Law from Stanford University.
