MIT TANGO CLASSES THAT ARE OPEN TO GENERAL PUBLIC

MONDAYS, February 6 - March 5

7-8:15 pm - Fancy Moves for Social Dancing (intermediate level): Building on basic concepts and connection between partners, we'll add in this class some new fancy moves that are suitable for social dancing. The leaders will practice their navigation skills and learn how to creatively combine elements by switching systems and sides of embrace. The followers will be challenged to a variety of interesting intermediate moves, while creating beautiful lines, and adding adornments. Material for these series is different from the material taught in the last series

8:30-9:45 pm  - Fundamentals of Tango: Get it right the first time! Connection, walking, posture, cross, ochos, and simple turns. This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as dancers with more experience who wish to perfect the basics.

Where:  MIT, Building 36, Room 156 (50 Vassar St., parking on the street or 'T' Kendall Sq.) map

PRICE:  For whole series: $60 general public / $30 MIT students / $40 other students. Payment is due in the first class and it is non-refundable (cash or personal checks). Drop-ins: $15/$8/$10.

MIT TANGO CLASSES FOR THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

*** If you are not a MIT student you'll have to purchase MIT athletic membership in order to attend these classes. However, once you've done so, you don't have to pay any additional fees. Since the size of the class will be limited to 20, MIT students will have priority when registering for the classes

When:  Tue/Thr, Jan 10 - 26

Time:  1:30pm - 3pm and 3pm - 4:30pm, both classes in fundamentals of tango

Where:  MAC Court, 120 Vassar Street, MIT

 

LEVEL DESCRIPTION:

** Beginner class: It  is suitable for beginners and dancers with some prior experience who wish to perfect the basics. Get it right the first time! Learn how to lead and follow anyone. Walking, cross, ochos, and simple turns.

** Intermediate class: Building on basic concepts and connection between partners, we add in this class some new fancy moves that are suitable for social dancing (milongas). The leaders will practice their navigation skills and learn how to creatively combine elements by switching systems and sides of embrace. The followers will be challenged to a variety of interesting intermediate moves, such as voleos, ganchos and volcadas, while creating beautiful lines, and adding adornments. All participants must have completed a beginner course in Argentine tango.
